Residence Permit Renewal in Turkey: Deadlines, Documents and Key Points
Foreigners holding a residence permit in Turkey must submit a renewal application before their permit expires. Failing to renew on time can result in an administrative fine and, in serious cases, an entry ban. When Should You Apply for Renewal?
The legal rule: a renewal application can be submitted at the earliest 60 days before and at the latest on the last day of validity. In practice, applying on the last day is not recommended; 30–45 days before is safer due to system load and appointment availability.
What Happens After the Deadline?
- Applications can be submitted up to 10 days after expiry, but an administrative fine applies.
- Violations exceeding 10 days can result in the V-71 restriction code and an entry ban.
- The longer the violation, the longer the potential entry ban.

- Application form completed and approved in the e-residence system
- Passport (copy of all pages)
- Current residence permit card
- 4 biometric photographs
- Current proof of address (lease agreement or title deed)

What If the Renewal Is Refused?
