Finding a reliable, patient and fully legal caregiver in Turkey — for an elderly parent, a relative recovering after surgery or a family member diagnosed with Alzheimer's or dementia — is one of the hardest decisions any family has to make. Demirel Consultancy has worked for years with carefully vetted caregiver candidates from the Central Asian Turkic republics, whose references and health records are verified, and we manage the entire legal process — from the work permit to the SGK registration — from a single point.

The one thing families must remember: even a minor health incident with an unregistered caregiver can expose the household to thousands of lira in administrative fines, clawbacks and legal liability. Legal employment protects both the family and the caregiver.

Our candidate selection process

1. Needs assessment. A meeting with the family — illness, daily routine, preferred language and the expectations from the caregiver.
2. Pre-selection from our pool. 3-5 profiles from our already-referenced candidate list are presented.
3. Reference verification. We speak to former employers directly to confirm temperament, honesty and communication skills.
4. Medical report. HIV, hepatitis, tuberculosis and mental-health screenings are added to the file.
5. Criminal record and biometric verification. Clean-record checks in both the country of origin and Turkey.
6. Trial period. A 7-day trial with the family; if fit is poor we replace the candidate.

Work permit and SGK

There is a dedicated domestic services work permit category for foreign caregivers. The application is filed by the person needing care or a first-degree relative. A medical board report documenting the need has a direct impact on approval. Once approved, SGK domestic services registration is set up, monthly contributions are arranged and severance accruals are tracked.

Salary and contract

Foreign caregiver salaries vary with experience and working conditions. The employment contract is drawn up in line with minimum-wage legislation, and live-in arrangements and weekend rest periods are stated explicitly. Because everything is in writing, the risk of later disputes is minimised.
